Minor disagreement. Neuroscientists might know more than you about how the human brain works in general. However, you are the only one who has your perspective. Psychology is great when it helps. It is however a "soft" science and therefore it is reasonable to assume that there may be times when they are just wrong.
The entire field has a bias, the individual doctors have bias. We all have biases. That is, of course, the whole point of the scientific process, to remove bias.
I totally agree that seeking professional help is oftentimes beneficial. The only point I'm making is, at the end of the day, trust yourself over a "professional" if you find something they say less than useful
